Twitch will acquire Curse, Video Game Community

Twitch will acquire Curse

According to the latest announcement, Twitch will acquire Curse. It creates programs like voice clients, databases, and mod managers for PC games. But, the deal amount is not yet disclosed.

This is to note, Twitch has more than 100 million users a month. Also, Curse has over 30 million users a month across its website.

Hubert Thieblot launched to organize the many add-ons that were available for his favorite game, World of Warcraft. Hubert designed the website just for his friends. But later he realized that the website was something the entire gaming community could enjoy from.

In 2006, as demand for the site began to grow and the site’s traffic skyrocketed, Hubert realized he had a viable online business, and Curse, Inc. was born.

“We’ve long been fans of Curse. This is an innovator in the games industry with a strong culture built around its offerings –from Curse Voice and Curse Client to Gamepedia”. Said Emmett Shear, the chief executive officer of Twitch.

“While it’s still early days for Twitch and Curse, we’re kindred spirits in many ways and are looking forward to working together to enhance our users’ gaming experience.”

“We here at Curse have been avid gamers and Twitch users for quite a long time. So we’re thrilled to be joining the Twitch family”. Said Hubert Thieblot, the chief executive officer of Curse, in the press release.

“I’m really excited to see how we can bring Curse services into the Twitch network. We can provide an unparalleled experience to both Curse and Twitch users. This is going to be terrific for the millions of players who use Curse, and for the larger gaming community.”
