Instagram announced that they will launch new feed based on algorithm, in coming months. So you will start viewing the feed based on algorithm, rather than current chronological-based feed.

Facebook, parent company of Instagram, already uses algorithm based feed. Twitter recently announced the algorithm update for their feed. And Now, Instagram announced the change.

You may be surprised to learn that people miss on average 70 percent of their feeds. As Instagram has grown, it’s become harder to keep up with all the photos and videos people share. This means you often don’t see the posts you might care about the most.

Photo sharing app will start making the change in the order the photos and videos appear in your feed. The algorithm is based on user’s relationship to the person posting and the timeliness of their post.

For example, if a celebrity, you are following, shares a pictures when you are sleeping or you are busy, the picture will wait for you. In this way you will not miss the update from your favourite celebrity or friend.

Instagram says that all the photos and videos will remain in the feed, just the order will be changed depending on your activity with the post. Also, company is listening to his customers and inviting the feedback once you notice the change in your feed in upcoming month.
