Facebook ends support for Blackberry BB10 and BBOS as per the recent announcement by company.
Facebook is ending important APIs for Blackberry selected model by the end of year.
In a blogpost by Blackberry, it is mandatory to update to update by 31st March 2016. Blackberry us encouraging users to move to web based experience with some important points as per their support page
- The current BlackBerry Facebook application will cease to work on BlackBerry smartphones running BlackBerry 10 and BlackBerry OS versions 7.1 and earlier.
- BlackBerry 10 users will no longer have the ability to share images or videos directly to Facebook using the Share icon.
- Upon upgrading to the latest version of the application, Facebook contacts will no longer synchronize with the on-device Contacts application.
“We are extremely disappointed in their decision as we know so many users love these apps,” BlackBerry responded to the news that Facebook ends support for Blackberry.
“We fought back to work with WhatsApp and Facebook to change their minds, but at this time, their decision stands (but let them know how you feel on social media, using the hashtag #ILoveBB10Apps). Despite this, we have worked hard to ensure our end users have the best experience in light of this decision, and are continuing to search for alternate solutions.”
Last month, whatsapp has already announced the ending of support from selected Blackberry devices by the end of this year. Blackberry users are asked to upgrade to new device in order to use whatsapp services.
