Facebook is celebrating Friends Day as Social media network turns to 12 year today, 4th Feb, 2016.
But Facebook wanted to celebrate this in a different way, and they decided to keep it less about Facebook, more about their friendship with their 1.59 billion users.
So Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg declared Thursday “Friends Day” and users will receive a personalized video highlighting moments with their friends that can be edited and shared.
The photos are picked out by automated technology. But each Facebook user will be able to delete some and select other pictures instead.
Most Facebook users should start seeing the videos at the top of their Facebook feeds by noon Thursday, which the Facebook is hailing as “Friends Day”.
Mark Zuckerberg in his latest post said “Today is a day to celebrate friends. It’s also Facebook’s birthday, but today isn’t about celebrating us. It’s about friendship.”
Facebook community continue to grow
In the last five years, Facebook community has more than doubled in size. According to Facebook blog, “Today we’re announcing that during that same time period, the degrees of separation between a typical pair of Facebook users has continued to decrease to 3.57 degrees, down from 3.74 degrees in 2011. This is a significant reflection of how closely connected the world has become.”
