Google is ready to launch Health Symptom Search. Google announced today that it is rolling out new symptom-related direct answers on mobile.
According to Google, roughly 1 percent of searches on Google. But health content on the web can be difficult to navigate. It tends to lead people from mild symptoms to scary and unlikely conditions. This can cause unnecessary anxiety and stress.
If you search for specific symptoms like “headache on one side”, Google will display a list of the related condition.
But if you search for “headache”, Google will display a description of the symptom, self-treatment options. Also, possible health issues related to the symptom that may cause a doctor’s visit.
So Google is working with Doctors, experts at Harvard Medical School and the Mayo Clinic. They checked related conditions for a representative sample of searches to help improve the lists Google shows.
By doing this, our goal is to help you to navigate and explore health conditions related to your symptoms. And quickly get to the point where you can do more in-depth research on the web or talk to a health professional. – Official Google Blog.
A few months ago, Google introduced health card as well. These cards cover over 400 health conditions. India is the third country after the U.S. and Brazil to have health information in the Knowledge Graph. They consulted and worked with a team of local and international doctors to curate and confirm this information.
But, Google is rolling this update out in English in the US. They will cover more symptoms, languages, and countries.
