Apple’s Safari browser was crashing for a lot of users early Wednesday, iPhone, iPad and Mac.
Apple is still tracking the main reason behind this bug, but assumptions so far are this is due to Apple Safari’s suggestion service.
Though there is no official statement by Apple yet, users are already sharing the fix for this bug.
To fix it (temporary fix) turn off the suggestion service, The option can be found under Preferences – Search on desktop Safari.
On the iPad and iPhone, both of which appear to be affected, you can find it under Settings – Safari. Turn off the option, and your browser will stop crashing.
Also, you can enter in private browsing mode and it will work fine. Reason is same, in private mode, Safari does not contacts suggestions servers and browser does not crashes.
The bug doesn’t impact all users, but it seems to affect Safari on iOS 8 and 9, as well as the latest version of El Capitan, OS X 10.11.1.
We are in touch with Apple, and will update you as soon as we have an update about the bug.
