The purpose of this technology is to make user transaction faster and secure. While user can simply click a picture and proceed to payment, they don’t have to remember password, which might get stolen due to online fraud.

According to the application “The process identifies the user and verifies that the user requesting the transaction is a living human being. The user is identified using image information which is processed utilizing facial recognition.”

Application reads “The entry of these passwords … can require the user to turn away from friends or co-workers when entering a password, which can be awkward or embarrassing in many situations.”

It is a well-known feature of browsers “Remember Password”. Many people use it on their computer and mobile phones. This is good to avoid entering password again and again, but if you lose the device and anyone else gains the access to your account, then you are in trouble.

It might sound funny today, but this can be seen as a password replacement in coming future. Not only amazon, many other companies are working on it and soon you might not have to remember the password. A selfie will do it for you!
